Earth Month Kick Off: Designing a Sustainable Schoolyard
This interactive workshop will experiment with surface permeability and stormwater filtration as we explore how to make our schools and communities more resilient to flooding events.
Flooding is the most common and costly natural disaster in Canada. In this interactive session, we’ll explore how and why flooding is a growing issue, experiment with the permeability of various surfaces and explore how different factors help filter stormwater. Learners will then apply their knowledge to redesign their school’s playground for optimal sustainability. This workshop is suitable for grades 4-8 and is based on lessons and activities from GreenLearning’s Flood:ED Program.
