Messages from Our Outgoing and Incoming Executive Director
Mary McGrath:
Dear Friends, I have been so honoured to lead GreenLearning through some incredible change over the past six years. When I joined GreenLearning, I was the only staff person, supported by a wonderful Board and contractors. Now we are a team of nine people engaging thousands of educators and youth across Canada and beyond in our mission to create a sustainable and resilient future. I am saddened to have to step away from my role as Executive Director to focus on some health issues that require my full attention. But I also know that change can be a time of wonderful transformation.
I am so excited that Kathy Worobec will be re-joining the GreenLearning family (yes, she was the original Alberta Director!). Kathy brings her kind spirit, skilled leadership and a wealth of experience in energy and climate education to the organization. And she is supported by GreenLearning’s team of incredibly talented and capable people who are so committed to the cause. I will continue to support GreenLearning in every way that I can as I take on my new challenges in my path to wellness. And I am grateful to all of you who continue to support GreenLearning and our mission to engage youth in building sustainable, prosperous and resilient communities.
Kathy Worobec:
I am excited to join the GreenLearning team as the Executive Director. The organization under Mary’s leadership has established GreenLearning as Canada’s national energy and climate change education program for K to 12 educators and students. My experiences in various senior management roles in environmental and energy education not-for-profits will help further the work of GreenLearning. I look forward to providing leadership and working with the GreenLearning team during this critical time of preparing today’s youth with the knowledge and skills to create solutions that positively shape their future.
