Keeping Kids Learning at Home

We at Kainai are very honoured to be a part of such an amazing project (Energy Revealed). As we know, protecting mother Earth is very important as a First Nations school and a part of the Blackfoot Confederacy. Our way of life will continue to guide us, to protect mother Earth and to be appreciative of what we have. We are very grateful and thankful for this opportunity.

Participating in the GreenLearning Re-Energy has been incredibly rewarding. My students loved choosing their models, overcoming challenges, and seeing their projects work. This hands-on experience aligns perfectly with the Alberta Science 30 Energy Technology unit, making learning engaging and relevant. Competing with peers nationwide added extra excitement and motivation

The opportunity to help others using the microloan financing model, is an eye opener for many of my Natural Science students. In one tangible step, students are able to see the effects of their fundraising and subsequent loan, on the lives of others and the success of a diversity of development projects in different parts of the world. This project (Lending a Hand) has legacy written all over it.

Discussing her classes Flood:ED Challenge submission, The Flood Fighters liked interviewing teachers to find the problems. They interviewed a plumber who came to unclog a drain and they watched the flood webinar. They felt the realness of the project.

It (Electricity All Around Us) was well thought out, likely made by actual teachers. The online activities really engaged the students, many of whom said that they never knew that learning science could be so fun.

Discussing the Energy Revealed Challenge: As an educator, giving the students power to design a plan to conduct an event in school was truly rewarding. Students’ use of 21st century skills was evident all through the process. Students were most excited to see their hard work and planning in action on the day of the “Earth Hour”. They appreciated the complete freedom that they received to work on their plan
